From the very first moment our designer’s pencil touched paper to when you take delivery of the BMW iX, we’ve remained completely committed to our vision of sustainability and emission-free driving pleasure.
The gorgeously proportioned surfaces and characteristic lines gives the BMW iX a magnificent monolithic shape. With each detail meticulously blending into the modern design, it’s as if the BMW iX has been created from a single mould. For the first time, we’ve incorporated flush handles and frameless doors on a BMW SAV, further accentuating its pioneering spirit. These design elements aren’t just an appealing aesthetic element; they serve an important practical function. By minimising drag on the BMW iX, we’ve maximised the driving range while also making sure the driver has the most comfortable ride possible by reducing road noise.
With a range of up to 630 km on a single charge, the BMW iX is equally at ease on the open road as in the modern cityscape. Two powerful electric motors give the BMW iX incredible performance with 385 kW of power. The BMW xDrive electric all-wheel drivetrain makes sure that power is smoothly delivered to the wheels, propelling the iX to 100 km/h in an astonishing 4.6 seconds. The instantly available torque and stepless acceleration from a standing start means you can rely on the BMW iX to respond precisely and spontaneously to every movement of the accelerator pedal, delivering a superior driving experience.
The BMW iX isn’t simply a performance vehicle; luxury is equally important to the driving experience. In the cabin of the BMW iX, we’ve drawn inspiration from modern interior design, with the architecture conceived to ensure that both driver and passengers are enveloped in a luxurious, welcoming space, one in which you can unwind and delight in the exquisite materials and elements surrounding you. The interior cabin elements are more like furniture thanks to our use of high-quality colours and materials. From the expansive BMW Curved Display and slim seats to the free-standing floating centre console, the complete absence of a centre tunnel and the largest panoramic glass roof ever installed in a BMW, we’ve created an impressive feeling of space, one that tempts you to linger. The glassy iDrive controller framed by Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified wood invites your touch to dance across the latest generation BMW iDrive 8 interfaces. Your every interaction with the BMW iX is rewardingly tactile, intuitive and seamless.
BMW iDrive 8 encourages you to communicate with the BMW iX in a more natural, organic way, with touch and voice commands. When paired with the haptics of the iDrive user interface, the infotainment system can be controlled with an intelligent digital assistant, which reacts naturally and intuitively to your inputs. These elements combine with the Shy Tech concept to make sure you can remain solely focused on the driving experience. The idea behind Shy Tech is to blend into the background until you need it. This invisible intelligence can be found throughout the BMW iX. The kidney grille functions as an intelligent surface and houses camera technology, including state-of-the-art radar. The audio system’s speakers are invisibly embedded in the cabin, and the minimalist button design keeps the interior clean and understated.
We are committed to making mobility more sustainable to ensure we can share the joy of driving with future generations. When you compare the BMW iX to an SAV with a similarly powerful combustion engine, the iX will produce 45% fewer greenhouse gas emissions over its entire life cycle. This is because of our comprehensive sustainability concept. Each BMW iX is built entirely with exclusively renewable energies as well as the extensive use of natural and recycled materials during production. The floor mats in the BMX iX are produced 100% from Econyl, a nylon made entirely from ocean and landfill waste. Throughout the interior, we make use of FSC-certified wood, leather tanned with olive leaf extracts and other natural materials.
